Six years later, I saw him at a class reunion with his stunning girlfriend.
“You could’ve been the CEO’s wife if you hadn’t broken up with him,” she said.
I hid the scars on my wrist and forced a smile.
“It was Adeline who broke up with Zachary, right?”
While his girlfriend went to the bathroom, our classmates started gossiping.
They were talking about me and my ex, Zachary.
Meanwhile, Zachary sat opposite me with a faint smile.
It was the first time we had met six years after we broke up. I got to admit that it caught me off guard.
I came to the party because a classmate told me Zachary wouldn’t come. But there he was, sitting across from me.
Zachary had changed a lot. He was now a successful and outstanding young entrepreneur.
He looked handsome and elegant in a tailored suit and leather shoes. Even the watch on his wrist cost hundreds of thousands.
He was now the center of attention, envied and respected by everyone.
As for me, I had already fallen from grace.
“Yes, she dumped me,” Zachary answered calmly, pulling my mind back to the real world.
Everyone looked at me. And I could tell what they had in mind.
They were surely thinking that I was a gold digger who abandoned Zachary before he became rich, but ended up losing everything.
“Adeline, I heard that the guy you dated later went to prison, right?”
“You’re also in debt because of him. Are you here to ask Zachary for money?”
While everyone ridiculed me, Zachary’s calm and deep eyes locked on me, and he didn’t say a word.

Then the door was pushed open, and Zachary’s girlfriend walked in.
Noticing the uncomfortable atmosphere, she asked with a smile, “What happened?”
Zachary gently held her hand and said to her, “Nothing. We’re just catching up.”
She sat down gracefully and looked at me, showing two cute dimples on her cheeks as she smiled.
“Zachary told me about you. If you hadn’t broken up with him, you would have been the wife of the president of the Blaine Group now,” she said.
Back then, my family was at its peak. People clustered around me and flattered me wherever I went.
I knew a lot of them were jealous of me. So, I wasn’t actually that surprised when they mocked me after seeing me falling from grace.
A while later, Zachary spoke up and broke the awkwardness. His voice was cold, “It’s all in the past now.”
Everyone fell silent.
His girlfriend toasted me, saying, “Thank you for breaking up with him. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been with a wonderful man like him. Well, you have to come to our wedding.”
I covered the scars on my wrist and replied in a daze, “Congratulations.”
